Forensic Mechanical Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Conduct ethical and scientific investigations into events, systems, devices, and failures.

• Offer expert opinions based on findings.

• Lead and guide complex engineering projects.

• Provide engineering and expert consulting services.

• Examine and evaluate intricate mechanical failures.

• Execute engineering failure analyses related to mechanical systems.

• Create thorough engineering analyses for clients.

• Potentially serve as an expert witness.

• Travel locally or regionally and operate in diverse environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.

• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required for the state of residence.

• In-depth knowledge of failure analysis for commercial, residential, and industrial mechanical systems.

• Expertise in HVAC, plumbing, piping, boilers, chillers, water intrusion, and industrial machinery.

• Capability to work in various environments.

• Willingness to travel locally or regionally.

• Preferably located within 150 miles of Charlotte, NC.

• Multi-state licensing and/or an active NCEES Record is preferred.

• Forensic engineering experience is desirable.

• Experience in providing expert witness testimony is a plus.

• Physical ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.

• Capacity to kneel, squat, bend, climb, crawl, stoop, reach, and work overhead.

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to push or pull weights of up to 100 pounds.

• Willingness to drive for up to 4 hours each day.

• Strong analytical thinking, sound judgment, and discretion.

• Ability to manage work-related stress, multiple priorities, and deadlines.
