Fleet Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Serve as the technical authority and primary assurance source for fleet and equipment maintenance issues.

• Ensure adherence to fleet safety, compliance, standards, performance, and efficiency.

• Perform skills gap assessments and develop training programs for fleet personnel.

• Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and method statements for maintenance tasks.

• Establish a change control process and an auditing framework.

• Lead investigations into incidents and implement lessons learned.

• Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements in vehicle technology.

• Validate and refine the decentralized fleet structure.

• Implement governance frameworks for regional fleet teams.

• Promote collaboration, resilience, and sharing of best practices among regional teams.

• Conduct talent assessments and succession planning initiatives.

• Provide coaching and mentorship to regional fleet managers.

• Review and scrutinize fleet delivery, financial performance, and safety metrics.

• Spearhead continuous improvement initiatives using lean methodologies or similar approaches.

• Identify opportunities to transition outsourced maintenance to in-house.

• Oversee the specifications for new vehicles.

• Direct the electric vehicle (EV) strategy, encompassing vehicles and charging infrastructure.

• Lead innovative efforts that support business growth.

• Manage the telematics strategy.

• Oversee fleet allocation and ensure effective communication across the business.

• Ensure fleet administration, documentation, and systems are consistently updated.

• Collaborate with finance on fleet strategy and procurement planning.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive technical and mechanical knowledge, including experience with vans, HGVs, and PSVs.

• Relevant engineering or fleet-related qualifications, or equivalent practical experience.

• Demonstrated experience in senior engineering or technical leadership positions.

• Strong skills in data analysis, performance management, and assessing engineering risks.

• Comprehensive understanding of fleet compliance, safety regulations, and industry standards.

• Familiarity with continuous improvement practices and a proven history of implementation.

• Exceptional problem-solving abilities.

• Strong analytical capabilities.

• Solid leadership and communication skills.
