This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Serve as the technical authority and assurance source for all fleet and equipment maintenance concerns.
• Guarantee fleet safety, compliance, standards, performance, and efficiency.
• Conduct skills gap analysis and develop training plans for fleet personnel.
• Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and method statements for maintenance tasks.
• Establish a change control methodology and an audit framework.
• Lead investigations into incidents and integrate lessons learned.
• Keep abreast of advancements in industry and vehicle technology.
• Validate and modify the devolved fleet structure.
• Implement governance frameworks for regional fleet teams.
• Encourage collaboration, resilience, and the sharing of best practices among regional teams.
• Perform talent reviews and succession planning.
• Coach and mentor regional fleet managers.
• Evaluate and challenge fleet delivery, financial, and safety performance.
• Create continuous improvement initiatives utilizing lean principles or similar methodologies.
• Identify opportunities for internalizing outsourced maintenance services.
• Spearhead the specification of new vehicles.
• Drive the electric vehicle (EV) strategy, encompassing vehicles and charging infrastructure.
• Lead innovations that support business development.
• Oversee the telematics strategy.
• Manage fleet allocation and distribution throughout the organization.
• Ensure that fleet administration, documentation, and systems are consistently updated.
• Collaborate with finance on fleet strategy and procurement planning.
• Extensive technical and mechanical knowledge, including experience with vans, HGVs, and PSVs.
• Relevant professional engineering or fleet-related qualifications, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience in senior engineering or technical leadership positions.
• Strong ability in data analysis, performance management, and engineering risk assessment.
• Comprehensive understanding of fleet compliance, safety regulations, and industry standards.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and a proven record of their application.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Excellent leadership and communication capabilities.
