This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create comprehensive fire alarm and emergency communication systems that comply with NFPA, NEC, IBC, IFC, local regulations, and client specifications.
• Develop construction drawings, submittal packages, device layouts, riser diagrams, operational sequences, battery calculations, voltage drop analysis, and equipment schedules.
• Evaluate architectural, electrical, mechanical, and site drawings to devise code-compliant designs.
• Collaborate with project managers, field technicians, clients, AHJs, and other stakeholders during the design and permitting phases.
• Assist with permit applications and address plan review comments, revision requests, and inquiries related to code compliance.
• Ensure designs align with client needs, timelines, budgets, and regulatory standards.
• Offer technical assistance to installation teams and resolve design-related challenges.
• Work alongside sales and estimating teams on scopes of work, equipment selections, and design concepts.
• Stay informed about codes, emerging technologies, manufacturer requirements, and industry best practices.
• Conduct design evaluations and quality assurance checks.
• Assist with commissioning and the finalization of project closeout documentation.
• Oversee multiple design projects concurrently.
• Standardize designs for national account clients across various locations and jurisdictions.
• Identify project risks, code-related issues, and constructability challenges, proposing suitable solutions.
• Keep organized records of project documents, drawings, revisions, and other relevant documentation.
• NICET Level 3 Fire Alarm Systems certification is required, with a preference for NICET Level 4 or equivalent experience in fire alarm system design and engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience in designing fire alarm systems for commercial and/or industrial applications.
• Strong understanding of NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), IBC, IFC, relevant local codes, and AHJ requirements.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and other fire alarm design software.
• Experience in creating complete construction drawing packages, including floor plans, riser diagrams, battery calculations, voltage drop calculations, device layouts, and equipment schedules.
• Familiarity with platforms such as Notifier, Siemens, Edwards, Simplex, Honeywell, Bosch, or equivalent.
• Skill in reviewing architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings to coordinate fire alarm designs with other building systems.
• Experience in supporting permit submissions and responding to comments from AHJs and third-party plan reviews.
• Strong knowledge of voice evacuation, mass notification, and networked fire alarm systems.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
• Ability to handle multiple projects while adhering to deadlines and maintaining high design quality.
