Financial Counselor – Pre-Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Ensures that an account is created for every scheduled patient.

• Gathers complete and precise patient demographics, insurance plan, and benefits information.

• Secures treatment authorization prior to the scheduled procedure.

• Verifies patients’ insurance coverage, eligibility, and Point of Service financial obligations for all scheduled services.

• Documents insurance and patient details meticulously in accordance with departmental guidelines.

• Complies with third-party payer requirements for both government and commercial insurers.

• Assesses insurance eligibility and coverage and obtains/confirms authorization.

• Communicates current Medicare requirements, HIPAA compliance, and reimbursement criteria effectively.

• Works in collaboration with Case Management to ensure accurate patient status and necessary documentation is submitted to insurers.

• Creates and/or updates hospital accounts as needed.

• Inputs required patient demographics and insurance information into the hospital information system following the scheduling of procedures.

• Provides feedback to the supervisor regarding insurance changes and updates.

• Contacts patients to confirm demographic information and conducts financial counseling prior to the time of service.

• Collects patient responsibilities and offers information on payment plans and financial assistance.

• Adheres to departmental and network policies regarding discounts, package rates, and basic financial assistance.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

• An Associate's degree in a related healthcare field is preferred.

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in the healthcare field, including medical office insurance/front desk, hospital registration, or hospital business office (billing or collections) is required.

• A preferred minimum of 3 years of experience in the healthcare field, including medical office insurance/front desk, hospital registration, or hospital business office (billing or collections).
