This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Ensure patient accounts are completed in accordance with departmental protocols, policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Conduct pre-admission, admission, pre-registration, and registration processes.
• Verify insurance requirements and communicate financial responsibilities to patients prior to services.
• Organize payment options and assess patients for potential government funding sources.
• Evaluate insurance coverage and benefits while obtaining necessary authorizations.
• Assist uninsured patients in identifying payment sources.
• Investigate accident-related liability to establish suitable payment sources.
• Admit, register, and pre-register patients utilizing accurate demographic and financial information.
• Address and resolve insurance claim rejections and denials.
• Calculate and collect patient cash payments, reconciling daily cash deposits.
• Assess diagnoses for compliance with the Local Medicare Review Policy.
• Compile departmental statistics for budgeting and reporting purposes.
• Clarify bills and execute collection actions in accordance with PRMO policies.
• Support financially responsible individuals with payment arrangements and refer patients for financial counseling.
• Process third-party sponsorships and review insurance and sponsorship documentation.
• Inform attending physicians about patients facing financial difficulties.
• Complete managed care waiver forms for out-of-network patients receiving reduced benefits.
• Update billing systems, document actions as per policy, and enter or modify referrals.
• Refer patients to Manufacturer Drug programs when applicable.
• Welcome and assist patients and visitors, clarify policies, and resolve any issues.
• Collect documentation for inquiries and complaints and aid in departmental coverage.
• Communicate with insurance carriers regarding clinical information, coverage, and payment matters.
• Knowledge of basic grammar and mathematical principles at a high school education level.
• Some postsecondary education is preferred.
• Additional training or practical knowledge in a related business field.
• Two years of experience in hospital service access, clinical service access, physician offices, or billing and collections; OR an associate's degree in a healthcare-related field with one year of experience interacting with the public; OR a bachelor's degree with one year of experience working with the public.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Capability to analyze data, manage multiple tasks, and work independently.
• Ability to cultivate and sustain professional, service-oriented relationships with patients, physicians, colleagues, and supervisors.
• Understanding and compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Practical knowledge of compliance principles.
• No degrees, licenses, or certifications are required.
• Flexible remote work arrangement.
• Monday to Friday work hours from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
