This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Review daily schedules to pinpoint patients who need financial clearance.
• Inform patients about their anticipated financial responsibilities, which include deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximums.
• Clearly communicate treatment costs and payment expectations before services are rendered.
• Assist patients in comprehending their financial obligations.
• Assess financial risks related to scheduled services, including coverage limitations, medical necessity issues, frequency restrictions, and out-of-network benefits.
• Identify accounts that may lead to patient balances or denied claims.
• Escalate high-risk accounts for further review.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to mitigate claim denials.
• Support the resolution of pre-service financial challenges that could impact reimbursement.
• Recognize trends associated with financial risk and patient responsibility.
• Maintain precise documentation of financial conversations.
• Ensure that notes adhere to organizational standards while safeguarding patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
• Coordinate with internal teams to facilitate accurate and timely revenue cycle operations.
• Deliver outstanding customer service.
• Manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Assist with additional tasks and projects as assigned.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in a healthcare business office or revenue cycle position is preferred.
• Strong understanding of insurance, benefits, and patient Financial Assistance Programs.
• Solid grasp of oncology treatment pathways.
• Familiarity with high-cost oncology medications, infusion services, and specialty pharmacy billing is preferred.
• Working knowledge of diagnosis-driven financial impacts is preferred.
• Experience with billing systems and the interpretation of EOBs.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to navigate various systems, including EMR, Registration/PMS systems, and VOB systems.
• Capable of verifying authorization and financial clearance with minimal guidance.
• Strong critical thinking skills and adaptability to process and workflow changes.
• Experience in oncology or specialty care is preferred.
• Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding, managed care concepts, and fee structures.
• Background in financial counseling or patient-facing financial roles.
