Financial Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Manage the general ledger for four entities and a variety of creative brands.

• Prepare the final general ledger and P&L for approval by the Head of Finance.

• Execute the monthly close process and deliver the financial package by the 10th of each month.

• Review reconciliations and expense coding prepared by the Finance Officer.

• Ensure a clean balance sheet with no unreconciled suspense accounts or unexplained transactions.

• Oversee intercompany balances among US, UK, and merchandise entities.

• Develop and uphold cost-allocation logic for shared overhead across brands.

• Conduct monthly variance analysis comparing forecasts to actuals and clarify the underlying factors.

• Investigate underperforming or new ventures to pinpoint cash leakage.

• Maintain individual P&Ls for creative channels.

• Assist with rolling cash forecasts across entities, encompassing inventory and production commitments.

• Communicate financial insights and results to leadership effectively.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and finance.

• Practical experience in multi-entity or multi-currency environments.

• Background in startups, outsourced accounting, or SMEs is highly beneficial.

• Advanced proficiency in Xero, including chart-of-accounts design and handling multiple entities.

• Exceptional skills in Google Sheets or Excel, proficient in pivot tables, lookups, and creating models from scratch.

• CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred, but strong operational experience can compensate.

• A natural investigative mindset with the ability to discern the causes of financial fluctuations.

• Capacity to challenge inaccurate figures, including those presented by senior colleagues.

• Proficient in explaining financial outcomes to non-financial founders in straightforward terms and defending the analysis.

• Ability to operate across US, UK, and merchandise entities while maintaining accurate intercompany balances.
