Financial Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Supervise accounting functions, financial reporting, internal controls, audit coordination, regulatory compliance, and U.S. tax compliance tasks.

• Collaborate with the Canadian Financial Controller to ensure the integrity of financial information and adherence to U.S. GAAP and relevant regulations.

• Lead the processes for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing.

• Prepare and assess financial statements in line with U.S. GAAP and company policies.

• Guarantee the accuracy and completeness of general ledger activities, reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.

• Formulate and sustain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

• Analyze financial outcomes and provide insights on variances, trends, and key performance indicators.

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.

• Act as the primary liaison for auditors and coordinate audits and reviews.

• Manage audit requests and provide necessary documentation.

• Oversee and address audit findings and control weaknesses.

• Maintain compliance documentation and supporting evidence.

• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local financial reporting obligations.

• Keep track of accounting standards and regulatory updates while evaluating their impact on the business.

• Manage statutory records and regulatory submissions.

• Supervise U.S. federal, state, and local tax compliance procedures and submissions.

• Collaborate with external tax advisors on tax reporting and strategic planning.

• Ensure precise tax accounting, tax provisions, and supporting schedules.

• Assist in tax audits and regulatory inquiries.

• Expand the U.S. team to facilitate business growth.

• Lead, develop, and mentor members of the accounting and finance teams.

• Partner with business leaders to deliver financial insights and support decision-making.

• Promote process enhancements, automation initiatives, and finance best practices.

• Support special projects as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is mandatory.

• CPA designation is highly preferred.

• A Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is advantageous.

• More than 8 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance is required.

• At least 3 years of leadership experience in managing accounting or finance teams.

• Strong background in financial reporting, external audits, and regulatory compliance.

• Experience in overseeing U.S. tax compliance and collaborating with external tax advisors.

• Experience in a multi-entity or complex business setting is preferred.

• Public accounting experience is a plus.

• Advanced understanding of U.S. GAAP is essential.

• Strong grasp of internal controls and audit requirements.

• Familiarity with federal, state, and local tax regulations.

• Experience with ERP systems; Vista by Viewpoint is preferred.

• Advanced skills in Excel and financial analysis.

• Experience with financial reporting and consolidation systems is preferred.

• Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
