This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania, +1 more state.
• Lead, develop, and support the Finance and Accounting team.
• Mentor and coach team members while promoting their professional growth.
• Encourage collaboration and communication within Finance and Accounting as well as with other departments.
• Assess and enhance financial systems, tools, and workflows.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to leadership for strategic planning and decision-making.
• Implement best practices for financial operations.
• Collaborate with various departments to align financial practices with organizational objectives.
• Manage month-end closure processes, reconciliations, and the preparation and delivery of financial statements.
• Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
• Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll operations.
• Develop and manage organizational budgets and financial forecasts in conjunction with the Director of Finance and Administration.
• Monitor financial performance against the budget.
• Assist with financial modeling and scenario analysis.
• Ensure financial oversight of grants and compliance with funding requirements.
• Oversee cash flow planning and management.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, tax, and audit requirements.
• Lead audit preparation and facilitation efforts.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks while maintaining robust internal controls.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management.
• At least 2 years in a leadership position overseeing finance or accounting teams.
• Proven experience in leading and mentoring finance or accounting teams.
• Familiarity with nonprofit financial management, including compliance, audits, and financial reporting (IRS Form 990, GAAP, FASB).
• Strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Experience in building, enhancing, and managing financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Proficient in financial systems, accounting software, and ERP systems.
• Knowledge of Sage Intacct is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of internal controls to prevent fraud and ensure financial integrity.
• Ability to prepare and present financial reports to leadership and boards.
• Experience in optimizing financial systems, improving processes, increasing efficiency and transparency, and reinforcing internal controls.
• Ability to convert financial data into actionable insights.
• Skilled at collaborating across departments to align financial practices with organizational goals.
