Assistant Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +42 more states.

📋 Description

• Manage the complete accounting cycle and month-end closing processes for various Operating Companies.

• Prepare and evaluate journal entries related to AR, AP, cash, payroll, fixed assets, inventory, prepaids, intercompany transactions, and month-end accruals.

• Perform reconciliations of general ledger accounts in accordance with Corporate Policies and Procedures.

• Investigate and clarify variances against forecasts and budgets in collaboration with Management.

• Liaise with functional departments about month-end closing schedules and outcomes.

• Lead a team of accountants, offering mentorship, training, and opportunities for career advancement.

• Promote teamwork, accountability, and ongoing enhancements within the accounting department and across other teams.

• Ensure compliance of accounting practices with GAAP and Corporate Policies.

• Oversee year-end audits and handle inquiries from external auditors.

• Drive the implementation of new accounting software and tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• 5-7+ years of relevant accounting experience.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or a comparable ERP system is preferred.

• Proven ability to quickly adapt to new systems.

• Comprehensive understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

• Capability to operate under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects effectively.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Skill in building effective relationships at all organizational levels and inspiring project stakeholders.

• Highly organized, with a keen eye for detail, follow-up, and execution.

• CPA designation is preferred.
