This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Accurately finalize patient accounts following departmental protocols, policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Execute pre-admission, admission, pre-registration, and registration tasks.
• Confirm insurance requirements and inform patients of their financial responsibilities prior to services.
• Arrange payment options and assess patients for government funding opportunities.
• Analyze insurance coverage and benefits while securing prior authorizations.
• Facilitate payment options for patients without insurance.
• Investigate accident-related liability and identify suitable payment sources.
• Admit, register, and pre-register patients utilizing accurate demographic and financial information.
• Resolve insurance claim rejections and denials effectively.
• Calculate and collect patient cash payments while reconciling daily cash deposits.
• Assess diagnoses for compliance with Local Medicare Review Policy.
• Compile departmental statistics for budgeting and reporting purposes.
• Clarify billing statements and execute collection actions in accordance with policy.
• Assist financially responsible individuals with payment arrangements and make referrals for financial counseling.
• Identify third-party sponsorship requirements and process patients accordingly.
• Review insurance policies and materials related to third-party sponsorship.
• Complete managed care waiver forms for patients who are out-of-network.
• Update billing systems and enter or amend referrals as needed.
• Refer patients to Manufacturer Drug programs when necessary.
• Welcome and assist patients and visitors, clarify policies, and resolve issues.
• Collect documentation for inquiries and complaints.
• Communicate with insurance providers regarding clinical information, coverage, and payment matters.
• Assist with departmental coverage as requested.
• Understanding of basic grammar and mathematical principles typically acquired through a high school education.
• Additional training or practical knowledge of related business operations.
• Two years of experience in hospital service access, clinical service access, physician office settings, or in billing and collections; OR an associate's degree in a healthcare-related field accompanied by one year of public interaction experience; OR a bachelor's degree with one year of public interaction experience.
• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
• Capability to analyze data, manage multiple tasks, and work autonomously.
• Ability to cultivate and sustain professional, service-oriented relationships with patients, physicians, colleagues, and supervisors.
• Proficient understanding of and compliance with policies and procedures.
• Familiarity with compliance principles.
• No specific degrees, licenses, or certifications required.
