This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Prepare and process financial aid files for students in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and guidelines.
• Review, analyze, and determine eligibility for financial aid awards under federal, state, and institutional programs.
• Analyze student financial information to establish eligibility and award amounts.
• Verify federal Title IV eligibility by reviewing files and completing verification requirements using FAFSA/ISIR data and supporting documentation.
• Identify discrepancies and make necessary corrections or updates to student records.
• Assess citizenship or eligible noncitizen status, satisfactory academic progress, enrollment status, conflicting information, and other federal eligibility criteria.
• Resolve issues related to federal database matches, C-Codes, rejected ISIRs, and other eligibility conditions.
• Exercise professional judgment in the evaluation of documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Calculate and validate financial aid eligibility, adjusting student records and awards as necessary.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of eligibility determinations, verification processes, corrections, and adjustments.
• Utilize student information systems, document management platforms, and U.S. Department of Education systems.
• Monitor workloads and processing queues to meet both processing and regulatory deadlines.
• Conduct quality-control reviews to minimize errors, overawards, overpayments, and compliance risks.
• Apply federal regulations and institutional procedures while remaining updated on Title IV changes.
• Communicate with internal stakeholders about documentation, eligibility, file status, and required actions.
• Collaborate with Financial Aid Student Services, Student Business Services, Systems, Compliance, and other university departments.
• Participate in training, regulatory updates, process enhancements, system testing, and implementation of new requirements.
• Safeguard confidential student and financial information while ensuring FERPA and data-security compliance.
• Perform additional financial aid processing and eligibility-related duties as assigned.
• High School Diploma and three years (3) of relevant experience in the field; OR, an equivalent combination of experience and/or training that demonstrates comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Familiarity with government, donor, and institutional rules, regulations, guidelines, and procedures related to financial aid awarding.
• Understanding of the Student Aid Index (SAI) calculation and its implications for Title IV fund distribution.
• Knowledge of federal Title IV financial aid programs, eligibility criteria, and relevant regulations.
• Working knowledge of COD, FPP, and NSLDS.
• Proficiency in automated financial aid processing systems and procedures.
• Proven critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Understanding of FERPA requirements and student privacy regulations.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
• Ability to actively listen, acknowledge, and effectively respond to inquiries.
• Capability to take ownership of concerns and appropriately resolve questions or issues.
• Ability to demonstrate professionalism, expertise, and a commitment to service excellence.
