This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +12 more states.
• Evaluate financial aid applications and associated documents for completeness, accuracy, and eligibility.
• Confirm student information and address basic discrepancies by gathering documentation or verifying data in the financial aid system.
• Manage processing of institutional scholarship awards, tuition discounts, partnerships, and additional aid programs.
• Input and update student information in financial aid software for federal, state, institutional, and external assistance programs.
• Reconcile financial aid and admissions records prior to the processing or adjustment of aid.
• Approve the disbursement of financial aid awards to student accounts.
• Ensure the maintenance of precise electronic and paper files, including notes on financial aid activities and student communications.
• Verify that required documentation and federal verification codes are resolved before aid is finalized or disbursed.
• Provide guidance to student services staff on standard financial aid procedures and documentation requirements.
• Communicate updates regarding changes in financial aid systems, forms, and processes.
• Collaborate with student services and other personnel to address student inquiries and concerns related to financial aid or billing.
• Implement and uphold financial aid policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state laws as well as university standards.
• Identify and report any potential policy, procedural, or compliance issues.
• Maintain student files and program records for audits and program evaluations.
• Assist in the annual review and updates of financial aid forms.
• Engage in testing of financial aid software updates, record assessments, and assigned projects.
• Carry out other designated responsibilities.
• Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 1 year of experience in a financial aid and student services setting.
• Understanding of federal and state financial aid regulations, basic office procedures, and recordkeeping practices.
• Proficiency in assessing and applying eligibility criteria using established guidelines and calculations.
• Ability to perform precise arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, percentages, and ratios.
• Competence in utilizing computer systems and financial aid software to enter, review, and update student information.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills that are clear and professional.
• Capability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and remain organized in a dynamic work environment.
• Ability to provide courteous and helpful service to a diverse student population while maintaining professionalism in challenging interactions.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with video conferencing tools such as Teams and Zoom.
• Knowledge of Banner, Regent Award, Soft Docs, and federal systems including COD and NSLDS.
