Financial Aid Advisor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver phone-based financial aid support and guidance to students enrolled at American Public University or American Military University.

• Engage in inbound phone conversations to inform and educate students about Federal Student Aid.

• Ensure that students receive the necessary funding to enroll in courses and work towards degree completion.

• Address issues and utilize basic math skills to verify financial aid package details for accurate processing.

• Leverage financial aid and student databases to assist students and parents throughout the financial aid process in real time.

• Achieve daily responsibilities in alignment with established Service Level Agreements while adapting to staffing and business needs.

• Meet departmental quality and productivity benchmarks.

• Collaborate with Admissions, Advising, and Student Support teams.

• Keep up-to-date knowledge of university products and services.

• Uphold the organization's dedication to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

• Carry out other assigned tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1-2 years of proven customer service experience.

• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.

• An Associate's degree is required.

• A solutions-oriented mindset with demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

• Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple demands with minimal supervision.

• A high standard of telephone etiquette and professionalism.

• Basic math proficiency.

• General competency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

• Must remain eligible to access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), which includes having no prior or current student loan defaults and no anticipated access issues.

• Must adhere to relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
