Director, IT – Financial Transformation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement the technology strategy that supports the global Finance function within the Clinical Trials Division.

• Take ownership of the Oracle Cloud Financials platform along with associated financial systems, including SAP S/4HANA and Oracle Cloud ERP.

• Spearhead the finance system strategy, finance applications, and business process transformation initiatives.

• Create and execute a multi-year technology roadmap for Finance.

• Ensure alignment of IT investments with Finance priorities such as digital transformation, compliance, efficiency, and scalability.

• Provide counsel to Finance executives, process owners, and regional finance leaders.

• Assess and implement AI, automation, analytics, and cloud-based finance technologies.

• Facilitate ERP modernization, optimization, upgrades, releases, migrations, and transformation projects.

• Establish governance for ERP configurations and enhancements.

• Standardize finance business processes across various regions and business units.

• Create global process templates, reduce unnecessary customization, and advocate for best practices.

• Oversee process documentation, governance, harmonization, and continuous improvement efforts.

• Cultivate relationships with Finance executives and stakeholders throughout the Clinical Trials Division.

• Lead steering committees and governance forums.

• Direct global finance transformation initiatives from strategic planning to implementation.

• Manage cross-functional programs involving Finance, IT, Clinical Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and external partners.

• Supervise project portfolios, budgets, risks, and executive communications.

• Champion organizational change management and user adoption initiatives.

• Oversee the global Finance application ecosystem.

• Ensure systems comply with SOX, internal controls, audit requirements, segregation of duties, and regulatory standards.

• Develop talent and succession planning strategies.

• Promote accountability, innovation, and ongoing improvement.

• Manage strategic vendor partnerships and outsourced service providers.

• Provide measurable business value through standardization, automation, ERP optimization, enhanced financial closing processes, adoption, and compliance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Finance, or a related field.

• Over 12 years of progressive IT leadership experience.

• More than 7 years of experience supporting enterprise Finance organizations.

• At least 5 years of experience leading global ERP implementations or support organizations.

• Proven experience in leading and collaborating with geographically dispersed teams.

• Knowledge of financial operations within the clinical trial or life sciences industry.

• Preferred familiarity with Oracle Cloud ERP, SAP, or other enterprise systems.

• Desired experience in finance transformation initiatives within clinical trials or life sciences settings.

• Preferred background in Shared Services organizations that support global operations.

• Preferred experience with global process ownership models.

• Preferred knowledge of system or cloud migrations.

• Preferred experience with mergers and acquisitions integration in the life sciences sector.

• Background in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industries is preferred.

• Understanding of clinical trial financial management and passthrough cost models.

• Strong expertise in ERP Finance modules, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cost Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Consolidation, Financial Planning & Analysis, Master Data Management, integration platforms, and financial systems that support clinical trial operations.

• Skills in strategic thinking, executive communication, business acumen, financial management, organizational leadership, influence without authority, change leadership, talent development, customer focus, results orientation, cross-functional collaboration, global mindset, and a comprehension of clinical research business models.
