Financial Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Prepare monthly recurring journal entries, which include bank fees, currency transfers, net salaries, tax payments, refunds, and VAT/tax journals.

• Reconcile bank accounts, Fixed Asset Management, and Balance Sheet accounts.

• Oversee the management of accruals, including interest and Corporate Income Tax accruals.

• Handle complete Accounts Payable operations along with payment files.

• Review VAT codes and authorize standalone bills.

• Conduct AP and AR reconciliations, along with VAT verifications.

• Process payment reminders for overdue accounts.

• Provide holiday coverage as a backup for AR applications for around five weeks each year.

• Supervise daily bank statements and outgoing payments.

• Manage manual payments, which include loans, interest, and intercompany transfers.

• Execute corporate tax, VAT, and employer payments.

• Take ownership of VAT data management, calculations, postings, returns, and EU Sales declarations.

• Process correspondence and decisions from local Tax Authorities.

• Collect data and submit finalized local statutory reports.

• Complete year-end closing processes and prepare FINGAAP financial statements.

• Manage year-end responsibilities and provide general financial consulting.

• Approve and process employee travel and expense claims.

• Review travel claims and employee payslips.

• Report taxable expense claims and manage non-taxable allowances.

• Ensure timely data transfers for payroll and expense records to the core accounting system.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in general accounting.

• Qualified ACA or ACCA.

• Experience in developing globally-distributed systems.

• Strong knowledge of accounting best practices.

• Expertise in VAT and tax matters.

• Comfortable with learning and adapting to new technologies in a dynamic environment.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong time management abilities and a self-motivated work ethic.
