This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Support the financial management and administration of Housing Forward's financial systems, processes, and records.
• Ensure that expenditures align with federal and state program requirements, statutes, GAAP, and relevant standards.
• Prepare monthly reimbursement requests for grants and contracts.
• Coordinate and review timesheets, activity logs, non-labor internal charges, and requests for subcontractor reimbursements.
• Analyze supporting documentation to assess the allocability and allowability of expenses.
• Record revenue from foundations, grants, and privately sourced contributions.
• Reconcile revenue and expenditures between reimbursement requests and the general ledger.
• Review budget-to-actual expenses and monitor instances of over- or underspending.
• Review, reconcile, and document employee benefit expenditures.
• Process bank reconciliations and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
• Record fixed assets and manage the fixed asset schedule.
• Document employee expense reimbursement requests in accordance with internal policies.
• Monitor and log expenditures and receipts.
• Provide financial, administrative, and clerical support.
• Assist in maintaining financial and reporting systems.
• Aid with departmental budget preparation and adherence to deadlines.
• Review departmental financial activities to enhance operational efficiency.
• Execute month-end and year-end procedures, including reconciliations, working papers, monthly closing, annual audits, and ad-hoc monitoring.
• Coordinate and assist external auditors during audit fieldwork.
• Help ensure deadlines for audited financial statements are achieved.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in budget preparation, finance, accounting, or a related field.
• A bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, QuickBooks, and payroll systems; experience with PayCor is preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, allocation methodologies, and government billing practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Capacity to exercise initiative, independent judgment, and leadership in budget and accounting analyses.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to follow through independently.
• Ability to perform under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines.
• Capability to make routine judgments and decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and relevant accounting experience preferred.
• Reliable transportation, a valid state-issued driver's license, and car insurance.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Flexibility to work at various sites as scheduled.
• Ability to maintain files and lift objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Willingness to travel on a limited basis.
