This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Deliver comprehensive financial management assistance across designated states, programs, or business units within a shared services team.
• Aid in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, month-end and year-end closing activities, financial analysis, and continuous financial oversight.
• Create analyses, reconciliations, financial reports, and other materials for operational and strategic decision-making purposes.
• Track financial performance and pinpoint trends, variances, risks, and opportunities.
• Present findings and recommendations to Finance Managers, Finance Directors, and business leaders.
• Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and quality of financial data, reporting, systems, and business processes.
• Assist in compliance with organizational policies, internal controls, audit requirements, donor restrictions, and relevant regulations.
• Offer guidance and training to staff on finance processes, systems, reporting tools, and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Conservation, and Philanthropy teams on financial planning and organizational priorities.
• Participate in finance initiatives, process enhancements, system implementations, and cross-functional projects.
• Address moderately complex financial inquiries and act as a resource on finance processes, systems, and reporting.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, along with 3 years of relevant experience or a comparable combination.
• Background in accounting/financial issues and analysis.
• Proficiency in using accounting and financial reporting systems.
• Technical skills in spreadsheet applications, general ledger reports, and financial management tools.
• Familiarity with GAAP, practices, and regulations.
• Experience, coursework, or training related to U.S. Federal Uniform Guidance, state and local regulations, multilateral and international regulations, and standard contract clauses, as applicable.
• Capability to manipulate, analyze, and interpret data.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organizational abilities.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Experience in non-profit accounting.
• May require specialized expertise on complex accounting/financial matters.
• Knowledge of U.S. government grants accounting.
• Possession of a valid driver's license and adherence to TNC's Auto Safety Program.
• Completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may involve a review of motor vehicle records.
