This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Act as the main finance and accounting contact for the business units in Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala.
• Offer insights on accounting practices, financial compliance obligations, and TNC financial policies.
• Detect and address intricate accounting and compliance challenges across various jurisdictions.
• Ensure adherence to TNC policies, financial standards, legal obligations, and segregation of duties.
• Evaluate month-end closing procedures, balance sheet reconciliations, accounting records, and accompanying documentation.
• Oversee cash management, banking operations, and ensure prompt bank reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable and assist in accounts receivable oversight.
• Coordinate and assess accounting, local tax, statutory compliance, and regulatory submissions with external advisors and accounting service providers.
• Guarantee that external accounting information is comprehensive, precise, well-supported, and compliant with TNC policies.
• Direct fiscal year-end closing procedures for the designated business units.
• Supervise statutory filings, certifications, and financial regulatory needs.
• Conduct financial analyses, identify potential risks, and propose subsequent actions.
• Analyze accounting guidelines, organizational policies, and local statutory mandates.
• Suggest solutions for accounting, payroll, tax, and compliance issues.
• Escalate major financial, compliance, or operational risks.
• Keep abreast of changes in accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements and recommend enhancements or corrective measures.
• Lead the coordination of external audits and statutory examinations and address findings.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and oversee payroll processes.
• Support both internal and external audits.
• Supervise one or more staff members.
• Adhere to TNC’s Code of Conduct and embody its values.
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, along with 3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination.
• Familiarity with GAAP and fund accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
• Knowledge of applicable Mexican legal, regulatory, tax, labor, and statutory requirements.
• Proficient in using automated accounting systems.
• Understanding of internal controls, segregation of duties, and financial documentation standards.
• Experience in managing or supervising accounts payable, provider payments, and bank reconciliation processes.
• Proven ability to lead, supervise, and develop staff, including coaching, mentoring, performance evaluations, and guidance.
• Professional proficiency in both Spanish and English is preferred.
• Experience in designing processes to ensure accurate and timely provider payments.
• Exceptional organizational abilities, including prioritization and deadline management.
• Non-profit accounting experience is advantageous.
