This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, monthly closing procedures, financial reporting, GAAP-compliant financial operations, operating models, unit economics, and financial planning.
• Convert financial data into operational decisions while establishing financial discipline, visibility, and accountability.
• Act as the primary financial representative to the board and investors.
• Collaborate with the CEO on fundraising efforts, financial modeling, preparing investor materials, conducting due diligence, and negotiating financing agreements.
• Assume executive responsibility for billing, collections, revenue cycle performance, clean claims, denials, accounts receivable days, and cash collections across various states and payers.
• Examine payer performance, reimbursement trends, and operational inefficiencies.
• Collaborate on Medicaid and Managed Care Organization pricing, bids, and rate negotiations.
• Model direct-contract economics and margins, create implementation plans and requirements, monitor performance, and carry out post-launch evaluations.
• Lead business operations, project management office (PMO), strategy and operations, credentialing, and care coordination.
• Set key performance indicators (KPIs), evaluate performance, hold leaders accountable, develop scalable multi-state processes, prepare for market launches, and eliminate operational bottlenecks.
• Provide executive oversight for human resources, including talent management, compensation, benefits, and workforce planning.
• Manage essential vendor relationships and contracts.
• Ensure adherence to Medicaid requirements, state regulations, HIPAA, and relevant accounting standards.
• Identify risks and develop sustainable compliance processes.
• Leverage AI and technology to analyze information, automate tasks, interrogate company data, and enhance decision-making.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in finance and operations, including a minimum of 5 years in the healthcare sector.
• Practical experience with Medicaid reimbursement and revenue cycle management.
• Proven track record of assisting a growth-stage or venture-backed company in achieving profitability.
• Experience presenting directly to boards and investors.
• Involvement in at least one institutional fundraising round.
• Successful history of redesigning financial and operational processes from start to finish.
• Demonstrated ability to foster cultures of accountability and consistently achieve measurable objectives.
• Strong skills in financial modeling, analytics, strategy, and operations.
• Authentic commitment to increasing access to behavioral healthcare for underserved children and families.
• MBA or CPA is highly preferred.
• Experience in behavioral health is strongly preferred.
• Preferred experience in multi-state healthcare operations.
