Field Solutions Engineer, Strategic Programs

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Act as the embedded technical advisor at designated strategic customer locations.

• Discover, assess, and nurture new production program prospects within current accounts.

• Facilitate discovery sessions with customer engineering, procurement, quality, and program teams.

• Develop technical business cases that include DFM recommendations, process selection, cost reduction, and lead-time enhancements.

• Collaborate with Sales and Account Management to address technical objections and expedite opportunities.

• Take ownership of a specified growth target within the assigned account portfolio.

• Convert customer requirements into actionable technical packages for manufacturing partners.

• Assist in partner identification and qualification, which includes capability assessments, capacity evaluations, and production readiness reviews.

• Perform on-site partner evaluations to confirm process capability, first article readiness, and inspection methodologies.

• Guide partners through ramp-up, production troubleshooting, quality issues, and corrective actions.

• Manage partner performance in relation to on-time delivery, quality, and cost goals.

• Oversee technical execution from program award to production launch and steady-state supply.

• Lead the resolution of manufacturability, quality, capacity, and scheduling challenges.

• Highlight risks and coordinate mitigation strategies across customer, partner, and internal teams.

• Facilitate production ramps, program transitions, and new product launches.

• Monitor and report program health in terms of cost, quality, delivery, and growth targets.

• Incorporate field insights into Product, Engineering, and Operations.

• Provide case studies, technical documentation, and marketing materials.

• Represent Xometry at customer events, industry conferences, and webinars.

• Assist in creating repeatable playbooks for program identification, partner enablement, and launch.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a similar technical discipline.

• Over 5 years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or customer-facing technical role.

• Proven expertise in various manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, casting, or additive manufacturing.

• Ability to recognize design for manufacturing (DFM) challenges from CAD models and drawings.

• Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).

• Solid understanding of GD&T, engineering drawing requirements, and inspection and quality assurance practices.

• Experience collaborating directly with suppliers or contract manufacturers on production execution.

• History of driving growth or expansion within existing customer accounts.

• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of English.

• Remote position, ideally located within a reasonable driving distance of the assigned strategic customer sites.

• Willingness to travel approximately 50% to customer and partner facilities.

• Must be a U.S. citizen, legal resident, or hold a visa that permits employment in the United States without sponsorship.

• Preferred: experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, industrial, or medical device supply chains.

• Preferred: previous experience as a field applications engineer, solutions engineer, supplier development, or customer program engineering professional.

• Preferred: experience in supporting production programs from RFQ through ramp-up and steady-state supply.

• Preferred: familiarity with ERP systems, quoting platforms, and supply chain analytics tools.
