Field Service Technician, System Drives

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in the expansion of ABB's systems drives business catering to the Pulp & Paper, Metals & Mining, and Cement sectors.

• Oversee the installation of new equipment at client locations in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.

• Analyze maintenance manuals, schematics, and software applications.

• Fix equipment utilizing knowledge of electronics, testing instruments, computers, and hand tools.

• Direct a team in servicing and repairing ABB equipment.

• Educate clients on electrical theory and the operation of ABB Drives as needed.

• Manage drive system commissioning projects.

• Collaborate with engineering staff to address unique system operation and maintenance challenges.

• Provide management with insights on customer satisfaction, product performance, and recommendations for product improvements.

• Acquire proficiency in ABB tools such as Drive Composer, Drive Windows, Control Builder, SAP, Concur, Outlook, and Citi-Bank Travel.

• Propel service success to enhance customer satisfaction, boost customer retention, and elevate profitability.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED with 7 years of technical experience.

• Associate's Degree with 5 years of technical experience.

• Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of technical experience.

• Knowledge of AC and DC drive systems.

• 3 years of field service engineering experience with AC and DC coordinated drive systems.

• 3 years of experience using testing equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Data Loggers, PDMA motor testing, and CMC measurements.

• Experience with ABB 800xA is advantageous.

• A unique combination of education and experience must be proven in the AC drives domain.

• Capability to analyze and evaluate system hardware and software performance for applicable OEM integrated machines.

• Candidates must possess work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the US.

• Must be available 24/7 based on business needs.

• Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time.

• Ability to compile detailed technical field service reports.

• Skills in troubleshooting, testing, repairing, and servicing technical equipment.

• Adhere to ABB and customer safety protocols.

• Complete all required safety training punctually.
