Field Service Technician III – Global Sustainment Program

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +42 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver both on-site and remote upgrades and troubleshooting for Motorola ASTRO systems.

• Offer technical assistance for specialized systems and product applications.

• Diagnose issues related to software-driven electronics.

• Provision and enhance communication system infrastructure, optimizing RF and Broadband architecture.

• Sustain, optimize, test, and document intricate communications systems.

• Provide weekly reports detailing activities and achievements.

• Install, configure, and maintain computer network systems, encompassing cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.

• Manage server hardware, operating systems, and software infrastructure.

• Resolve system- and application-related challenges.

• Collaborate closely with Motorola Solutions customers, subcontractors, sales, engineering, project management, and customer support teams.

• Be prepared to travel internationally and domestically up to 75%–80% of the time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT, networking, technician roles, field service, system technician/specialist, radio frequency, or land mobile radio.

• Fundamental understanding of networking, Cyber Security principles, Active Directory Administration, and LMR Communications.

• Advanced knowledge of ASTRO core applications including UNC, PM, UEM, ESXi, IMW, KMF, HBSS, and PKI.

• Capability to lift approximately 50 lbs.

• Proficient in administering and troubleshooting within an IT-type or technical environment.

• Competency with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite applications.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong self-management, interpersonal, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

• Familiarity with wired communications systems, LAN, WAN, cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.

• Ability to maintain and troubleshoot server hardware, operating systems, and software infrastructure.

• Comprehensive knowledge of IP networks.

• Eligible to obtain acceptable adjudication of DOD secret (T-3) clearance within 18 months of starting employment.

• Completion of SF86 questionnaire and fingerprinting for positions related to national security.

• Readiness to pursue CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification within the first 12 months of employment.

• Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. Passport and International Drivers Permit, and legally drive and rent vehicles as required.

• Be open to travel internationally and domestically up to 75%–80% of the time.

• Permanent residence must be within 60 miles or less of a mid- to large-class international airport.

• Legal authorization to work indefinitely in the U.S.; employer work permit sponsorship is not available.

• Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain the necessary security clearance.

• Preferred certifications: CompTIA Network+, Security+, MCSE, or CISSP.

• Experience with HBSS and CAC/PIV authentication-based systems.

• Preferred experience in developing and executing Motorola ASTRO upgrades.

• Familiarity with Motorola ASTRO technology, Zone Core, ASTRO Networking, Microsoft Active Directory, McAfee security suite, MCC7500 dispatch, NICE Logging, IT, LMR, E911, Dispatch, and Radio Frequency.
