Field Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct testing, maintenance, and repair of low- and medium-voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motor control systems, and other electrical equipment both in the shop and in the field.

• Perform tests on relays, circuit breakers, transformers, motor control devices, and associated switchgear in various field locations.

• Execute mechanical work and repairs on breakers and switches, which includes disassembly, refurbishment, and parts replacement.

• Act as a technical expert in the testing, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.

• Prepare and document site-specific projects.

• Wire circuit breakers as required.

• Utilize and accurately interpret test equipment readings.

• Read and understand schematics and wiring diagrams.

• Troubleshoot circuit breaker control systems.

• Analyze and plot time-current curves.

• Test transformers, including Power Factor and Transformer Turns Ratio (TTR) tests.

• Maintain accurate and consistent documentation using Power DB.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.

• Use electrical tools and socket sets proficiently.

• Travel extensively, up to 100%, across the United States.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma required.

• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Switchgear/High Voltage Technician.

• Proficient in high voltage test equipment.

• Familiarity with low and medium voltage test equipment.

• Capable of following written or oral instructions and addressing issues involving multiple concrete variables.

• Skilled in probability, statistical inference, geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

• Ability to read company manuals, reports, workplace regulations, and procedures.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to speak confidently and clearly in English.

• Willingness to perform regular fieldwork both indoors and outdoors.

• Possession of a valid Driver’s license and a clean driving record.

• Effective communication in English, including reading and writing, essential for safety-related materials, documentation, and client interactions.

• NETA 2 certification is preferred.

• An Associate’s degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC) or an Electrical Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred.

• Equivalent experience and training from military service, such as Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or NAVY Seabee, are preferred.
