This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Address the service needs of BD Advanced Diagnostics customers within the designated geographic area and nationally as required.
• Quickly respond to customer inquiries and needs.
• Carry out installations, maintenance, upgrades, and repairs utilizing electronic and computer skills, tools, testing equipment, and schematic diagrams.
• Provide service for BD COR, Kiestra, Microbiology, Molecular, and LC/MS laboratory systems.
• Collaborate with service and support teams to enhance field service revenue through chargeable preventive maintenance and equipment relocations.
• Clearly communicate the work completed and offer follow-up plans when necessary.
• Proactively schedule and execute system upgrades with customers.
• Document and report customer complaints in the appropriate systems for resolution and investigation.
• Manage spare-parts inventory, company-issued vehicle, laptop, tools, and testing devices.
• Use the company credit card responsibly in line with established expenditure guidelines.
• Conduct both scheduled and unscheduled visits, including overnight stays and occasional national travel.
• Participate in weekend and holiday on-call rotation approximately every six weeks.
• Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
• Complete vendor credentialing requirements to retain access to customer facilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronic Technology, Computer Science, Biomedical, or other related fields OR a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in troubleshooting and/or repairing complex electro-mechanical, electronic, computer, or electrical systems in commercial, industrial, or military environments required.
• Knowledge of electronics, electro-mechanical devices (Mechatronics), PLCs, and pneumatics.
• Intermediate proficiency in information systems networking architecture design and setup.
• Intermediate comprehension of computer software operating systems.
• Capability to collaborate with customer IT personnel and lab leadership to schedule and implement routine software upgrades and maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license with a minimum of 3 years of driving history.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time outside the home geographic area.
• Availability to be on call as required.
• Capacity to lift up to 30 lbs frequently and 70 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to stand, bend, and stoop for periods of up to 10 hours.
• Capability to push/pull materials weighing up to 100 lbs.
• Compliance with company Personal Protective Equipment standards and guidelines.
• Must participate in vendor credentialing programs and fulfill credentialing requirements.
• Must possess a Real ID.
• Expertise in Robotics is preferred.
• Experience with Liquid Chromatography (LC) and Mass Spec (MS) instrumentation is preferred.
• Familiarity with Lab Information Systems (LIS) and database management is preferred.
• A+, Microsoft, or Cisco accreditation is advantageous.
• Understanding of basic computer security concepts and standard procedures.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving history and adherence to BD's auto safety standards.
• Ability to lift objects weighing between 30 to 40 lbs from floor to chest level.
• Ability to repeatedly manipulate manual sockets, crescent wrenches, and screwdrivers over an 8-to-10-hour workday.
• Capability to sit, kneel, squat, bend, and stand repeatedly during an 8–10-hour work period.
• Ability to push and pull items weighing up to 70 lbs.
• Ability to perform fine motor tasks while reaching during an 8–10-hour workday.
• Ability to carry a 30 lb. pack for up to 1 hour.
• Capability to drive for up to 6 hours and in adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to climb portable ladders and step stools.
• Ability to pass a respirator fit test and annual spirometry if required.
