This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Perform on-site installation of advanced equipment and adhere to testing protocols to ensure proper functionality.
• Execute scheduled on-site maintenance visits as planned.
• Offer diagnosis and repair assistance to customers and fellow field personnel.
• Foster and nurture positive relationships with customers, system users, and company staff.
• Frequently travel, often with little notice, to customer locations to troubleshoot issues or assist other field service teams.
• Complete and submit field service documentation accurately.
• Deliver training sessions to customers and users regarding system maintenance.
• Provide insights to product quality teams based on field experiences.
• Contribute written feedback for the revision and enhancement of Thermo Fisher system documentation.
• Offer guidance for reports by identifying and isolating significant system issues.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for training purposes.
• A Bachelor’s degree coupled with over 5 years of hands-on technical experience in electronic systems.
• Proficiency in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating advanced analytical tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar equipment.
• Comprehensive understanding and significant experience in diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems, or comparable systems.
• Ability to effectively interact with customers.
• Outstanding interpersonal communication skills.
• Professional working proficiency in English.
• Proven track record of repairing complex systems and subsystems down to the component level.
• Familiarity with MS DOS and Windows software environments.
• Capability to read and interpret schematics.
• Knowledge of UHV phenomena and technology.
• Willingness to obtain a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as necessary.
• Must hold a valid driver's license.
• Capacity to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in a laboratory environment and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
