Field Service Engineer I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Install and commission designated microscopy systems and options in accordance with factory specifications.

• Provide user familiarization training during the installation process.

• Carry out scheduled and emergency preventive and corrective maintenance.

• Identify root causes and verify repairs against performance standards for spectral resolution, indexing accuracy, and detector calibration.

• Foster customer relationships through prompt communication and practical technical training.

• Offer remote assistance to reduce downtime and enhance uptime.

• Resolve intricate hardware and software challenges using specialized tools.

• Calibrate essential components and implement upgrades to enhance performance.

• Collaborate with various teams and escalate issues as necessary.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation to support ongoing improvements.

• Travel extensively to customer locations across North and South America.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Life Science, or a related technical discipline.

• 2–4 years of field service experience in the microscopy or analytical instrumentation sector.

• Proficiency with digital multimeters and oscilloscopes.

• Strong enthusiasm for computer hardware architecture and system components.

• Experience with configuring, optimizing, and troubleshooting Windows.

• Capability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and system integration schematics.

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

• Passport and the ability to travel independently.

• Physical agility and comfort in confined or challenging spaces.

• Capacity to lift and manage equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

• Willingness to travel extensively on weekdays, from Monday to Friday.

• Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; no current visa sponsorship or transfer of sponsorship.

• Preferred: hands-on experience with AFM, SEM, fluorescence, and confocal microscopy.

• Preferred: experience in calibration, optimization, and maintenance of scientific imaging systems.

• Preferred: expertise in configuring and troubleshooting imaging acquisition software.

• Preferred: strong manual dexterity and a clean, organized workspace.

• Preferred: proactive problem-solving skills, a commitment to continuous learning, effective communication, adaptability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
