Field Service Engineer – Automation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Assist Sartorius clients with the installation and commissioning of the Ambr systems.

• Conduct calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair services for various systems.

• Maintain fault-finding records and deliver product performance insights to customers and internal teams.

• Develop comprehensive product knowledge and engage in self-improvement initiatives.

• Execute in-house service tasks at the Delaware office as required.

• Adhere to service protocols and ensure customer information, along with product software/configuration, is accurate and current.

• Maintain precise records of time, expenses, and completed work.

• Make autonomous repair decisions for field equipment in alignment with service-level agreements and customer support contracts.

• Collaborate with Product Support Engineers, Customer Support Engineers, and Hardware Resource Coordinators to address unresolved system issues.

• Travel up to approximately 80%, primarily within a designated area.

• Educate customers on product usage, maintenance, and best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent military or trade school certifications in electronics/electrical technology.

• Formal training in mechanical/electrical hardware setup and configuration, or field/building services engineering experience in place of formal qualifications.

• Over 2 years of experience in a commissioning/test or field service/support role within a high-tech engineering/manufacturing environment, preferably with capital equipment.

• Valid driver's license and passport, or the ability to obtain them.

• Experience with electrical, mechanical, and I/O fault-finding at both system and component levels.

• Familiarity with automatic mechanisms and related electrical control systems.

• Proficiency in measuring AC/DC voltages.

• Practical experience with robotics, motors, conveyor systems, I/O modules, optical readers, pneumatics, and electromechanical assemblies.

• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with team members and clients.

• Capability to interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and schematics.

• Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.

• Skill to train and guide customers in product usage.

• Computer proficiency, including familiarity with MS Office.

• Experience with software and firmware installation, updates, and testing.

• Background in calibrating control systems, such as temperature and/or volume.

• Experience in configuring PCs and installing Windows OS software packages.

• Knowledge of cleanroom protocols, drug discovery, process development, cell culture technologies, and GMP environments is advantageous.

• Understanding of Mammalian and Microbial cell cultures is a plus.

• Experience with bioreactors is a plus.

• Familiarity with automation/robotics, automated systems, or automated equipment in Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology is beneficial.

• Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2008 accreditation requirements and GMP/GDP is a plus.

• Ability to identify necessary documentation, tools, and equipment for tasks.
