Field Service Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Act as ZTR’s on-site technical representative for significant U.S. customers.

• Configure and provide support for ZTR control systems utilizing advanced PLC expertise.

• Conduct on-site commissioning and diagnostic troubleshooting of ZTR equipment.

• Deliver technical training to customers at their locations.

• Collaborate with and assist the sales team as required.

• Engage in project coordination and management activities as necessary.

• Travel domestically and internationally approximately 15%–30% of the time.

• Offer after-hours on-call support for urgent troubleshooting needs.

• Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders.

• Report directly to the Technical Service Manager based in London, Ontario, Canada.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a 3-year diploma in Electronic Engineering Technology, or a Professional Engineer designation, or a valid electrician license.

• Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical control systems and locomotive electrical systems.

• Proficient in advanced PLC programming and configuration.

• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols, including Modbus.

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of Ethernet networking, encompassing LANs, WANs, VPNs, and Wi-Fi.

• Proficient in standard computer applications, such as Microsoft Office.

• Ability to handle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work autonomously.

• Strong judgment and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure circumstances.

• Exceptional customer service and conflict resolution skills.

• Required hands-on technical experience.

• Preferred experience in locomotives and/or freight railways.

• Willingness to travel up to 30% to customer sites both domestically and internationally.

• Must be able to reside close to Little Rock, Arkansas, or East St. Louis, Illinois.

• Availability for after-hours on-call support for urgent troubleshooting.
