Field Service Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Support and execute warranty repairs and commissioning of SMA utility inverters in the field.

• Provide assistance with commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and analyzing SMA utility inverters through email, phone, and on-site visits.

• Acquire comprehensive knowledge of SMA utility inverter products, SMA accessories, and third-party accessories.

• Ensure accurate inventory management of SMA-provided spare parts.

• Work with high-voltage DC electricity, three-phase power, and inverter software and firmware.

• Uphold customer satisfaction while reducing field-service expenses.

• Assist with, perform, and adhere to maintenance activities as outlined in SMA product maintenance manuals.

• Travel to customer locations throughout the Southeastern region.

• Execute other assigned tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must currently reside in or around Jackson, MS or Baton Rouge, LA; candidates from outside the Southeastern territory are not eligible.

• A Bachelor's degree in a technical field is strongly preferred, or equivalent experience in the renewable energy industry.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical, electronic, and/or network communications.

• Previous experience in the renewable energy sector is strongly preferred.

• Willingness to work occasional nonstandard business hours and schedules.

• Familiarity with solar and/or alternative energy markets is preferred.

• Understanding of the National Electric Code is preferred.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are essential.

• Significant domestic and potential international travel is required.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; no employment visa sponsorship is available.

• Must not require current or future visa sponsorship or visa-tied employment authorization.

• Capability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to work in field-service environments that may involve electrical hazards and extreme weather conditions.
