This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +2 more states.
• Generate new sales while also retaining current sales within the designated territory.
• Develop and qualify prospect lists from law school faculty, deans, administrators, and library staff.
• Conduct in-person and online presentations for potential clients.
• Achieve annual sales objectives for the assigned territory.
• Generate leads and successfully close sales for available electronic and print publications with law school faculty.
• Collaborate with the Institutional Sales Manager to enhance institutional sales and promote the adoption of Aspen’s institutional products.
• Maintain Aspen Publishing’s standing in the law school market by ensuring business continuity.
• Master the content of Aspen and competitor print and electronic products, sharing market insights and sales techniques with colleagues.
• Clearly explain concepts and tailor presentations to suit audience needs.
• Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries.
• Submit weekly reports on school visits, including forecasts of adopted business.
• Update and manage the faculty and bookstore contact management system.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of sales and metrics.
• Participate in biannual sales meetings and external conferences as required.
• Build connections with key influencers in legal education purchases.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is preferred.
• 2–5 years of sales experience, ideally in legal and/or academic sales.
• Experience in developing and qualifying leads.
• Capability to work with a CRM and maintain an accurate customer database; experience with Zoho is a plus.
• Ability to demonstrate technology products both in person and virtually.
• Proficiency in explaining concepts clearly and tailoring presentations to meet audience needs.
• Ability to manage a substantial client base across a wide geographic area.
• Consistent achievement of sales targets.
• Willingness to travel domestically regularly, potentially up to 50% during the selling season.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• A proactive self-starter with a hands-on approach.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
• Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities.
• Capacity to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to consistently meet deadlines with precision.
• Proven capability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
• Capability to work on a computer for prolonged durations.
• Ability to listen and communicate attentively while engaging with others.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
