Field Property Claims Adjuster

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Conduct virtual and in-person investigations at the residences of policyholders.

• Evaluate property damage, establish liability, assess the extent of losses, and negotiate fair settlements.

• Utilize claims handling software, a company vehicle, and a laptop to assess damage and generate estimates in a paperless setting.

• Identify and report potential subrogation opportunities.

• Notify appropriate state and industry agencies regarding incidents of theft, fraud, or arson.

• Carry out responsibilities independently, directly influencing management decisions.

• Serve as the company's representative in public engagements while upholding professional standards.

• Interact with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, fraud and arson investigators, attorneys, medical professionals, and other relevant parties.

• Negotiate settlements with policyholders to resolve claims.

• Advocate for safety and adhere to company safety and ergonomic guidelines.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• A High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

• Exceptional customer service experience, ideally in a retail setting.

• Prior experience in construction or insurance is highly desirable and preferred.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Proficient in computer use, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Comfortable with smartphones and various applications.

• Willingness to learn about insurance policies and property damage.

• A valid driver's license is required.

• Must be bondable.

• Resident of the greater Sumter, Florence, or Camden, South Carolina area / assigned territory is necessary.

• Must be prepared and able to climb ladders, inspect roofs, and work on rooftops multiple times daily.

• Must be willing and capable of working in small, confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces.

• Must score at least the minimum passing grade on all claims training examinations.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English.

• Final candidates will undergo a Motor Vehicle Record background check.

• Willingness to commit to 1–3 catastrophe deployments each year.

• Must be willing to travel away from home for catastrophe assignments, typically lasting 2–3 days.
