This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Conduct virtual and in-person investigations at the residences of policyholders.
• Assess property damage, determine liability, evaluate the extent of loss, and negotiate equitable settlements.
• Utilize claims handling software to assess claims-related damage and generate estimates in a paperless setting.
• Identify and report potential subrogation opportunities.
• Report incidents of theft, fraud, or arson to the relevant state and industry agencies.
• Execute responsibilities independently, directly impacting management outcomes.
• Represent the company in public engagements while upholding professional standards.
• Interact with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, fraud and arson investigators, attorneys, medical professionals, and other stakeholders.
• Negotiate settlements with policyholders for claims.
• Promote safety and adhere to safety and ergonomic standards.
• Commit to 1–3 catastrophe deployments annually, typically lasting 23 days each.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
• A High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
• Exceptional customer service experience, ideally in a retail setting.
• Experience in construction or insurance is highly desirable and preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
• Proficient in computer applications: MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Competence with smartphones and relevant applications.
• Willingness to learn about insurance policies and property damage.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Must be bondable.
• Subject to a Motor Vehicle Record background check.
• Candidates must reside in the greater Wayne County, Michigan area.
• Ability and willingness to climb ladders, inspect roofs, and work on rooftops several times daily.
• Capability to work in small, confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces.
• Must achieve a minimum passing score on all claims training examinations.
• Ability to perform physical actions, including bending, kneeling, pulling, pushing, sorting, and carrying up to 50 lbs., along with climbing, reaching, standing, walking, seeing, speaking, reading, writing, and keying in data.
• Proficiency in English speaking, reading, and writing is required.
