Field Engineer – Supervisor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee and manage GE Vernova field teams and subcontractors engaged in GIS installation, maintenance, repair, and retrofit projects ranging from 69 kV to 800 kV.

• Organize manpower, tools, equipment, and site resources efficiently.

• Act as GE Vernova’s primary representative and customer liaison at the site.

• Conduct daily toolbox talks, safety briefings, and Job Safety Analyses (JSA/AHA).

• Coordinate site interactions with clients, contractors, commissioning teams, and project managers.

• Track installation progress and generate daily, weekly, and final site reports.

• Assist with commissioning, high-voltage testing, punch list resolution, and formal handover to clients.

• Review, modify, and create engineering documents, including drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnection drawings, terminal diagrams, mounting details, and BOMs.

• Translate European-standard mechanical and breaker-control drawings into North American-compliant formats.

• Identify technical deficiencies and suggest compliant engineering solutions.

• Draft and modify Method Statements for installation, maintenance, repair, and high-voltage testing.

• Prepare engineering documentation for review and approval by a licensed PE/P.Eng. where necessary.

• Ensure that engineering changes are properly documented, traceable, and compliant.

• Uphold EHS, OSHA, NFPA 70E, and LOTO compliance at all times.

• Manage site quality inspections, audits, and hold points effectively.

• Verify personnel training, certifications, and adherence to PPE requirements.

• Exercise Stop Work Authority when unsafe conditions are detected.

• Promote GE Vernova’s Zero Harm safety culture.

• Prepare technical specifications and drawing packages for North American sourcing and procurement.

• Define and validate substitutions for components.

• Assist with material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor inquiries.

• Collaborate with suppliers regarding fit, function, certification, and compliance.

• Mentor junior field engineers, supervisors, and technicians while providing customer training.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree, diploma, or technical training in Electrical, Electromechanical, or a related Engineering field.

• Demonstrated hands-on experience in GIS substation installation, assembly, maintenance, repair, and retrofit (69 kV–800 kV).

• Significant field experience in high-voltage GIS installation, construction supervision, and commissioning.

• Proficiency in reading, interpreting, marking up, and revising mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, control drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation procedures.

• Familiarity with Local Control Cubicles (LCC) and secondary/control systems.

• Ability to convert engineering documentation from European to North American standards.

• Knowledge of high-voltage substation breaker control philosophy and mechanical support design.

• Experience with procurement documentation, including BOMs, technical specifications, and approved vendor lists.

• Strong understanding of quality, testing, and turnover documentation requirements.

• In-depth knowledge of OSHA (29 CFR 1910 / 1926), NFPA 70E, and LOTO regulations.

• Experience in conducting and validating JSA/AHA prior to the execution of work.

• Familiarity with U.S. and Canadian regulatory frameworks for high-voltage field operations.

• Proven field leadership and site team coordination on complex high-voltage projects.

• Strong troubleshooting abilities in both electrical and mechanical environments.

• Capability to work independently at remote project sites under challenging conditions.

• PE/P.Eng. is preferred; candidates with qualifications suitable for licensed supervision are encouraged to apply.

• Proficiency in English is required; French language skills are a significant advantage.

• Must have legal authorization to work and travel in the US, Canada, and EU.

• Extensive travel is anticipated.
