Field Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee customer installations from start to finish, both on-site and remotely, in line with the implementation timeline.

• Evaluate the safety of electrical panels and liaise with the customer's electrician as needed.

• Install, wire, and set up monitoring hardware to meet Guidewheel standards and the agreed-upon scope.

• Establish and verify site connectivity, ensuring data flows to the platform.

• Collect machine nameplate data, asset IDs, and take photographs.

• Assist customer teams during remote installations and ensure quality standards are met.

• Document every sensor installation with photographs and submit reports within 24 hours of site completion.

• Provide written punch lists to the Technical Account Manager before departing from sites.

• Record time spent on-site for future implementation planning purposes.

• Assemble and prepare hardware kits, including firmware updates, labeling, and quality inspections.

• Conduct inventory audits and reconcile physical counts with system records.

• Troubleshoot hardware remotely in collaboration with the Technical Account Manager post-implementation.

• Return to sites for hardware replacements, multi-phase installations, and scope expansions.

• Enhance the implementation playbook and site readiness checklists.

• Achieve onboarding milestones, which include safety training, certification, implementation shadowing, and field-kit quality assurance.

• Lead solo and multi-site implementations, assist in onboarding the next Field Engineer, and suggest improvements for cycle time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in electrical, industrial installation, controls, or a related skilled trade.

• Comfort working in environments with three-phase panels.

• Knowledge of electrical safety fundamentals, including lockout/tagout procedures.

• Proficiency with tools such as a multimeter, clamp meter, drill, torque tools, and label printer.

• Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.

• Strong photography skills and the ability to produce accurate documentation.

• Comfort with creating machines, mapping sensors, and updating installation statuses through software.

• Capability to coordinate using standard collaboration tools.

• Excellent customer-facing communication abilities.

• A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.

• Experience in power metering or submetering is a plus.

• Knowledge of industrial networking involving cellular gateways and VLANs is beneficial.

• Experience in manufacturing plants is considered an asset.

• Background in training or mentoring technicians is advantageous.

• Proficiency in a second language, particularly Spanish, is a plus.

• Familiarity with PLCs and experience in implementation or troubleshooting is desirable.
