Field Engineer – 75% Travel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Provide expert-level technical support, system optimization, and thorough documentation for specialized communication frameworks.

• Oversee advanced RF and Broadband infrastructures along with essential network systems.

• Conduct on-site infrastructure upgrades and address complex technical challenges for public safety clients.

• Ensure accurate and up-to-date as-built documentation is maintained.

• Deliver high-level technical support for specialized systems and product applications.

• Diagnose software-driven electronics and enhance RF and Broadband architecture performance.

• Program, configure, optimize, test, and document intricate communications systems.

• Create and implement solutions for technical issues encountered during system installation, upgrades, or support activities.

• Execute preventative maintenance routines, trend analysis, and detailed documentation.

• Provide comprehensive weekly reports outlining activities and achievements.

• Set up, configure, and sustain computer networks, including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.

• Install server hardware, operating systems, and software infrastructure; troubleshoot system and application challenges.

• Work with legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructures.

• Support systems that include consoles, channel banks, T1 circuits, computer IP networks, RF infrastructures, logging recording systems, and wired/wireless communication equipment.

• Travel extensively to Department of Defense locations throughout the United States.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must be able to travel 75% of the time; actual travel requirements may exceed 75%.

• Preferred candidates will reside in Arizona.

• 3–5+ years of experience in RF communications, IP networking, and server administration, focusing on installation and troubleshooting.

• Experience with LMR systems, P25 trunked/conventional systems, and Motorola G-Series base stations.

• Familiarity with LAN/WAN IP networks, including Cisco or Juniper routers, switches, and firewalls.

• Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi v6/v7+, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Red Hat Linux.

• Knowledge of Motorola consoles, channel banks, and KMF/KVL encryption devices.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or 3+ years of equivalent experience.

• Basic requirement: Bachelor’s Degree OR 3+ years of experience in LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, Military, Server Administration, Motorola equipment, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, or Networking equipment.

• CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Cisco CCNA certifications are highly desirable.

• Proficiency with RF test equipment such as Viavi 3920B or Anritsu S412E analyzers.

• Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contracts.

• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required; employer work permit sponsorship is not available.

• Must successfully pass a stringent fingerprint background check under the CJIS Security Policy.

• Ability to troubleshoot Windows Server 2012–2022 and SQL databases.

• Understanding of wired communications systems (LAN/WAN), standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques.

• Proficiency with Google Suite, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.

• Familiarity with RF systems, transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.

• Proficiency in using communications test equipment.

• Strong self-management and self-motivation skills.

• Excellent communication abilities.

• Capability to resolve customer issues swiftly in high-pressure situations.
