Field Chief Technology Officer – CTO

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with deal teams to secure new projects by proposing architectures, defining scope, sequencing tasks, and recommending staffing solutions.

• Maintain a trusted technical role for key accounts throughout the project lifecycle.

• Represent 8th Light and cultivate market relationships through presentations, writing, and participation in events.

• Refine and enhance service offerings leveraging market insights.

• Assist in identifying and establishing connections with platform and AI partners.

• Direct go-to-market strategy, including engagement opportunities, messaging, and target pursuits.

• Act as a benchmark and mentor for fellow technologists.

• Provide guidance on technical job standards and career development pathways.

• Lead through influence initially without direct reports, with the potential to manage a small team as the organization expands.

• Report directly to the CEO and work collaboratively with the CEO, VP of Growth, practice Partners, and senior technologists.

• Over 10 years of experience in custom software consultancies.

• Proven track record in securing work and delivering successful engagements.

• Ability to present honest pitches to clients and uphold commitments.

• Strong fluency in both technical and commercial aspects.

• Current, hands-on technical expertise and judgment.

• Capability to lead by influence instead of authority.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to connect ideas across diverse topics.

• Skill in bringing out the best work in individuals through interpersonal relationships and high standards.

• Public technical presence demonstrated through talks, writing, or community leadership.

• Proven success in pitching and winning enterprise engagements within a consultancy environment.

• Experience in shaping service offerings or articulating a firm’s technical perspective.

• Established relationships with cloud or AI platform partners.

• A working understanding of AI and agentic tooling.

• Experience in mentoring senior technical talent.

• Availability for regular but infrequent travel.
