Field Applications Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in China.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical and application assistance for Thermo Fisher Scientific’s purification offerings, including POROS™, protein A, and CaptureSelect™ chromatography resins.

• Collaborate closely with strategic clients to provide onsite experimental support, as well as purification process development, optimization, scale-up, and troubleshooting.

• Offer onsite, hands-on technical guidance during resin evaluation and process development.

• Design and implement chromatography experiments in partnership with customers, encompassing resin screening, method development, process optimization, and scale-up.

• Assist in the development of purification processes for mAbs, antibody fragments, VHHs, recombinant proteins, viral vectors, oligonucleotides, and other innovative modalities.

• Resolve issues related to DBC, recovery, purity, elution, pressure-flow performance, column packing, and CIP.

• Promote the integration of POROS™, Protein A, CaptureSelect™, and additional purification products into customer workflows and platforms.

• Collaborate with TSS and Sales teams to support significant opportunities.

• Gather customer feedback, competitive insights, and unmet application requirements to aid in product and application development.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in downstream process development, protein purification, or chromatography applications is preferred.

• A Master’s degree or higher in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

• Familiarity with resin screening, including affinity, IEX, mixed-mode, and/or HIC.

• Proficient in chromatography method development, process optimization, scale-up, and troubleshooting.

• Willingness to travel frequently to provide onsite support for customers across China.

• Experience in biopharmaceutical companies, CDMOs, CROs, or bioprocess technology companies is preferred.

• Strong problem-solving abilities, experimental design skills, data analysis, and customer communication capabilities.

• Proficient in written and spoken English.
