This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Act as a scientific and technical authority for clients assessing, implementing, and utilizing Thermo Fisher Scientific flow cytometry technologies and solutions.
• Provide scientific application assistance both prior to and following instrument sales.
• Create and deliver customer training through onsite visits, virtual meetings, workshops, webinars, demonstrations, and scientific presentations.
• Advise customers on experimental design, assay development, panel design, workflow optimization, controls, and data interpretation.
• Resolve complex scientific, application, and workflow-related flow cytometry challenges.
• Guide customers on enhancing the value and efficiency of flow cytometry instruments and workflows.
• Work together with Technical Support and Service teams to address customer concerns.
• Offer expertise on multicolor and multiparameter flow cytometry, immunophenotyping, cell viability, apoptosis, proliferation, cell-cycle analysis, staining, fluorophore and antibody selection, compensation, controls, sample preparation, instrument setup, data acquisition, gating, quantitative analysis, assay development, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with Account Managers, Sales Specialists, and Business Development teams for product evaluations, demonstrations, customer presentations, and scientific discussions.
• Assist potential customers in assessing flow cytometry solutions and aid in product adoption.
• Foster relationships with Key Opinion Leaders, core facilities, and scientific collaborators.
• Represent Thermo Fisher Scientific at conferences, workshops, seminars, and customer events.
• Deliver scientific seminars and remain updated on emerging trends in flow cytometry, cell analysis, immunology, and related research advancements.
• Relay customer feedback, application insights, competitive intelligence, and market trends to Product Management, R&D, Marketing, and Commercial Leadership.
• Aid in new product launches and provide technical and applications training to internal commercial teams.
• Collaborate across functions to enhance customer experience, product adoption, and scientific support strategies.
• Manage a geographically diverse territory in Southern California with approximately 75% travel involved.
• Bachelor's degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related life science discipline.
• Over 2 years of practical laboratory experience with flow cytometry, including designing, conducting, optimizing, and troubleshooting experiments.
• Proficient in multicolor flow cytometry, encompassing fluorophore selection, panel design, compensation, controls, sample preparation, antibody staining, and data acquisition.
• Experience in analyzing and interpreting flow cytometry data, including gating strategies and using data analysis software.
• Strong grasp of experimental design, quantitative assay development, and suitable experimental controls.
• Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and presentation skills, with the capability to convey complex scientific concepts to varied audiences.
• Ability to work independently from a remote home office.
• Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time.
• Valid driver's license.
• Preferred: PhD in a relevant scientific field.
• Preferred: Experience in a flow cytometry core facility or shared instrumentation lab.
• Preferred: Advanced skills in multicolor or high-parameter flow cytometry.
• Preferred: Experience in developing and optimizing intricate flow cytometry panels.
• Preferred: Familiarity with flow cytometry data analysis software.
• Preferred: Experience in cell sorting and/or advanced cell analysis workflows.
• Preferred: Background in supporting applications related to immunology, oncology, cell therapy, drug discovery, or translational research.
• Preferred: Hands-on experience with Thermo Fisher Scientific flow cytometry instruments, reagents, software, or similar technologies.
• Preferred: Experience in delivering scientific presentations, workshops, instrument demonstrations, or customer training.
• Preferred: Background in a customer-facing scientific role such as Field Application Scientist, Applications Specialist, Technical Support Scientist, or Core Facility Scientist.
