This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Conduct testing, commissioning, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, outage support, retrofitting, and upgrade execution for FACTS/HVDC systems.
• Identify and resolve issues related to electrical systems, power electronics, converter equipment, control and protection systems, cooling systems, auxiliary systems, and plant or grid interfaces.
• Implement preventive and corrective maintenance following approved procedures, technical manuals, quality standards, and customer expectations.
• Analyze schematics, wiring diagrams, logic diagrams, drawings, test procedures, and maintenance instructions.
• Generate field service reports, test records, punch lists, maintenance records, and technical findings.
• Liaise with customers and internal teams regarding work status, technical challenges, site limitations, and suggested actions.
• Assist or lead field modifications, retrofits, upgrades, and corrective measures.
• Direct root cause analysis, lessons learned, and ongoing improvement initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to environmental, health, safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with engineering, project management, supply chain, quality, and service teams.
• Resolve complex or escalated technical issues impacting system performance, reliability, availability, or restoration.
• Provide technical leadership during critical outages, plant recovery, major commissioning programs, retrofit execution, and high-risk site activities.
• Establish troubleshooting strategies, execution plans, commissioning sequences, recovery plans, and technical standards.
• Offer 24/7 event troubleshooting support to customers.
• Serve as the primary technical escalation contact across field service, engineering, project management, quality, and customer teams.
• Lead significant root cause investigations and influence corrective actions that impact product design, service processes, training, tendering, and support strategy for the installed base.
• Standardize and enhance field service practices, work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and lessons learned.
• Mentor and nurture engineers across various levels.
• Provide expert technical insights on lifecycle planning, obsolescence, reliability enhancements, retrofit opportunities, technical risks, and service strategy.
• Operate at customer sites, substations, converter stations, industrial facilities, and other project locations.
• Master’s degree from an accredited institution or a high school diploma with substantial relevant experience.
• At least 10 years of experience in field service, commissioning, maintenance, or troubleshooting of HVDC, FACTS, substations, power electronics, protection, and control systems, or similar utility/power transmission equipment.
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally 75% of the time.
• Capacity to work at customer sites during outages, extended shifts, weekends, or emergency situations, as necessary.
• Ability to adhere to customer site access, training, and safety protocols.
• Valid work authorization and capacity to acquire necessary international travel documentation.
• Familiarity with electrical power systems and associated control, protection, and auxiliary systems.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, logic diagrams, and technical procedures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively at customer sites and across cross-functional teams.
• Eagerness and readiness to travel extensively and support planned outages, emergency responses, or urgent field events.
