Associate Field Service Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Assist customer locations by providing support for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of control systems and associated equipment.

• Acquire and implement Emerson technologies, products, and engineering best practices through practical training and mentorship.

• Collaborate with seasoned engineers to diagnose technical challenges and develop effective solutions.

• Aid in the installation, startup, testing, and commissioning of automation and control systems.

• Support customer training initiatives and assist users in comprehending system operation and maintenance requirements.

• Cultivate an understanding of customer operations and foster positive working relationships through regular onsite interactions.

• Engage in preventive maintenance, system upgrades, and improvement efforts to boost reliability and performance.

• Contribute to projects throughout their entire lifecycle, including project engineering, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), onsite installation, commissioning, startup, testing, and ongoing customer assistance.

• Record service activities, technical insights, and recommendations through precise and timely reporting.

• Adhere to established safety protocols and maintain safe working practices.

• Continuously enhance technical expertise in automation, instrumentation, process control, and industrial systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline, or expected completion of the degree before employment.

• Preferred but not mandatory: internship, co-op, laboratory, capstone project, military, or other hands-on technical experience.

• Demonstrated enthusiasm for industrial automation, control systems, engineering services, manufacturing, utilities, or related technical sectors.

• Strong skills in problem-solving, analysis, and critical thinking.

• Proficient verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capability to learn new technologies, collaborate effectively, and adapt within a dynamic customer-centric environment.

• Must reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the Southeast Virginia, Hampton Roads, or Eastern Shore region.

• Willingness and ability to travel regionally as needed to support customer projects, service tasks, and training opportunities.

• Familiarity with PLCs, DCS platforms, automation systems, instrumentation, or process control concepts.

• Basic knowledge of Ladder Logic, electrical schematics, P&IDs, or industrial control systems through academic coursework or project experience.

• Exposure to water/wastewater, power generation, manufacturing, or other industrial settings.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available.

• Temporary visa holders requiring sponsorship now or in the future are not eligible for hire.
