
Experienced Critical Power Field Technician – UPS Field Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on UPS systems, battery plants, DC power systems, PDUs, STS units, inverters, and other essential power equipment.
• Identify electrical and control system issues utilizing schematics, testing tools, manufacturer documentation, and industry best practices.
• Install, commission, and replace UPS systems, battery strings, battery monitoring systems, maintenance bypass equipment, and related power infrastructure.
• Address emergency service calls and restore customer systems to working order.
• Execute battery testing, capacity testing, failure analysis, and lifecycle replacement services.
• Complete service reports, maintenance documentation, and customer communications effectively.
• Build strong customer relationships through technical expertise and exceptional service delivery.
• Mentor junior technicians and assist in field training initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, company safety protocols, and customer site standards.
• Support various field service activities as business and customer requirements change.
• At least 3+ years of hands-on experience in servicing UPS systems, battery systems, DC power equipment, generators, switchgear, data center infrastructure, or other mission-critical electrical setups.
• Preference for experience with Eaton, Vertiv/Liebert, Schneider Electric/APC, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, ABB, or similar critical power platforms.
• Solid understanding of AC and DC electrical theory, power distribution systems, and battery technologies.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Experience with multimeters, power quality analyzers, battery testing instruments, and other diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and electronic system failures independently.
• Excellent customer-facing communication skills.
• Dedication to safety, quality workmanship, and professional accountability.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Willingness to travel within the designated service area, including overnight and multi-day trips.
• Capacity to meet company vehicle requirements.
• Ability to pass necessary pre-employment drug screening and background checks, when applicable.
• Capability to lift, carry, push, and/or move equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Willingness to work around energized electrical equipment and in mission-critical settings.
