Experienced Critical Power Field Technician – UPS Field Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Conduct preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on UPS systems, battery plants, DC power systems, PDUs, STS units, inverters, and other critical power equipment.

• Identify electrical and control system issues using schematics, testing equipment, manufacturer documentation, and industry best practices.

• Install, commission, and replace UPS systems, battery strings, battery monitoring systems, maintenance bypass equipment, and related power infrastructure.

• Respond to urgent service requests and restore customer systems to full operational status.

• Execute battery testing, capacity evaluations, failure analysis, and lifecycle replacement services.

• Prepare service reports, maintenance documentation, and customer communications.

• Cultivate strong customer relationships through technical expertise and effective service delivery.

• Mentor junior technicians and assist with field training.

• Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, company safety procedures, and customer site requirements.

• Support additional field service tasks as business and customer needs change.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 3+ years of hands-on experience in servicing UPS systems, battery systems, DC power equipment, generators, switchgear, data center infrastructure, or other essential electrical infrastructure.

• Preferred experience with Eaton, Vertiv/Liebert, Schneider Electric/APC, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, ABB, or similar critical power platforms.

• Solid understanding of AC and DC electrical theory, power distribution systems, and battery technologies.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

• Experience utilizing multimeters, power quality analyzers, battery testing equipment, and other diagnostic tools.

• Capability to independently troubleshoot and resolve intricate electrical and electronic system failures.

• Strong communication skills in customer-facing environments.

• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and professional accountability.

• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

• Willingness to travel within the designated service territory, including overnight and multi-day trips.

• Ability to pass necessary pre-employment drug screening and background checks, where applicable.

• Capacity to lift, carry, push, and/or move equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.

• Ability to work in confined or restricted-access areas and around energized electrical equipment.

• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.

• Capability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance Access to customer facilities.

• Adherence to OSHA, DOT, NFPA 70E, customer site requirements, and company safety policies.
