Executive Recruiter – City Manager Search

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with municipal leadership to establish the priorities for the position and the qualifications of candidates.

• Create a focused sourcing strategy aimed at identifying experienced city managers, county managers, assistant managers, and similar public-sector leaders.

• Perform outreach and conduct interviews to evaluate management experience, leadership judgment, and alignment with the community's needs.

• Prepare candidate summaries and provide recommendations to the client.

• Organize interviews, finalist meetings, and stakeholder involvement.

• Manage references, necessary background checks, and discussions regarding offers.

• Ensure the search remains on track with thorough documentation and regular updates on progress.

• Oversee the recruitment process from initial search planning through to offer acceptance.

• Work closely with the client while keeping candidates engaged throughout the selection process.

• Proven experience in leading searches for city managers, county managers, or similar local government executives.

• A well-established network of professionals within municipal and county leadership.

• Experience collaborating with elected officials and managing searches that involve multiple decision-makers.

• Capability to assess executive experience in public administration, budgeting, service delivery, and organizational leadership.

• Excellent communication skills and sound judgment in handling candidate confidentiality in accordance with client disclosure requirements.
