Estimator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete tender process, generating detailed cost estimates and proposals for residential, landscaping, concrete, and renovation projects.

• Conduct thorough material, labor, plant, and subcontractor take-offs based on architectural plans, engineering drawings, and scope documents.

• Recognize project risks, scope gaps, exclusions, and potential value-engineering opportunities prior to submission.

• Create comprehensive budget breakdowns and margin assessments for leadership review.

• Manage around five active estimating opportunities each week across diverse project sizes.

• Develop Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and scope breakdowns for subcontractors.

• Assess scope variations and accurately evaluate design changes post-award.

• Construct and enhance historical pricing databases to benchmark subcontractor costs and labor performance.

• Perform post-project cost reviews against initial estimates to promote ongoing margin improvement.

• Maintain and upgrade internal Excel estimating sheets and rate cards.

• Assess and suggest modern cloud estimating software to optimize workflow, accelerate take-offs, and enhance submission accuracy.

• Establish structured tender tracking systems to ensure visibility over active quotes, hit rates, and margins.

• Work collaboratively with leadership and subcontractors.

⛳️ Requirements

• Established experience as an Estimator or Quantity Surveyor in the residential or general building industry.

• In-depth understanding of construction methods, trade sequencing, and pricing for materials and subcontractors in New Zealand.

• Proven capability to read, interpret, and take off complex architectural and structural drawings.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

• Familiarity with standard estimating/take-off software is highly preferred.

• Highly organized and adept at managing multiple tenders simultaneously with minimal oversight.

• Excellent English communication skills for effective collaboration with leadership and subcontractors.
