This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Oversee, manage, and assess environmental elements of extensive, multidisciplinary transmission initiatives, including construction, permitting, siting, and compliance.

• Create and execute environmental management plans for the construction phase, along with monitoring protocols and corrective actions.

• Ensure adherence to environmental permits and mitigation strategies throughout the construction and execution phases.

• Collaborate with construction teams and contractors to incorporate environmental requirements into everyday operations.

• Perform site inspections and audits to confirm compliance and manage associated risks.

• Supervise third-party environmental consultants and evaluate their work products.

• Compile and submit environmental reports to regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.

• Liaise with federal and state agencies regarding environmental regulations and permit compliance.

• Organize meetings with contractors, agencies, Native American Tribes, and other stakeholders.

• Oversee environmental compliance documentation, including Environmental Management Plans, Avian Protection Plans, and Vegetation Management Plans.

• Provide support for multiple large-scale linear infrastructure projects in active development, particularly in the Desert Southwest.

• Report to the Senior Director of Environmental and collaborate with development, engineering, and construction teams.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, planning, ecology, environmental planning, engineering, or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience in environmental compliance and permitting within the energy sector.

• Preferred 2 years of experience focused on projects in the construction/execution stage.

• Proven history of permitting and/or construction support for large-scale energy projects, preferably electric transmission.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with federal agencies, Tribal governments, state agencies, eNGOs, and land use planning or zoning entities.

• Familiarity with federal and state laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines relevant to the permitting, construction, and operation of electric transmission.

• Direct experience with EIS-level NEPA compliance reviews, ESA and NHPA consultations, state environmental quality act reviews, local zoning authorizations, and post-permitting compliance.

• Technical knowledge of environmental issues related to industrial development and permitting, including land use/zoning, biological, aquatic, cultural, noise, visual, and socioeconomic factors.

• Practical knowledge of geospatial analysis, land use planning, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

• Understanding of industry environmental standards for the siting, design, construction, and execution of transmission lines.

• Demonstrated ability to manage the financial and scheduling aspects of environmental projects.

• Genuine interest in the transmission grid and energy generation.

• Willingness to travel approximately 30–50% of the time.

• Proficient in computer and data management skills, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a small, non-hierarchical organization.

• Familiarity with professional GIS systems and basic map proficiency.
