Entry-Level Electronics Technician – UPS Field Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Complete training provided by the company, including classroom lessons, safety protocols, equipment handling, and practical field training.

• Assist seasoned technicians with preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs of UPS systems, battery plants, DC power systems, PDUs, inverters, and related equipment.

• Identify and diagnose electrical and electronic system faults utilizing schematics, wiring diagrams, test equipment, and manufacturer documentation.

• Aid in the installation, commissioning, and replacement of UPS systems, batteries, battery monitoring systems, and other critical power equipment.

• Conduct visual inspections, gather equipment readings, document observations, and report potential issues to senior technicians.

• Safely and correctly employ multimeters, battery testing equipment, and other electronic diagnostic tools.

• Assist with battery testing, battery replacements, equipment cleaning, and routine maintenance tasks.

• Complete service reports, maintenance records, timekeeping, and other necessary documentation.

• Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, dispatchers, and field technicians.

• Adhere to OSHA, NFPA 70E, company safety protocols, and customer site requirements.

• Maintain assigned tools, test equipment, safety gear, and company vehicles in good condition.

• Engage in ongoing technical training and work towards completing service assignments independently.

• Support additional field service activities as business and customer needs change.

• Provide support to customers across the DFW area and the surrounding region.

⛳️ Requirements

• Basic knowledge of electronics, electrical systems, AC/DC theory, mechanical systems, or electronic troubleshooting obtained through technical or vocational training, community college courses, apprenticeship or certificate programs, military technical training, or practical work experience.

• Ability to read or learn to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.

• Fundamental experience with hand tools and electronic testing equipment, including digital multimeters.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

• Willingness to undergo required training and learn from experienced technicians.

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safe work practices.

• Professional communication and customer service abilities.

• Basic computer skills and capability to complete electronic service reports.

• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

• Willingness to travel throughout the designated service territory, including overnight and multi-day trips.

• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation after completing required training.

• Ability to pass necessary pre-employment drug screening and background checks, where applicable.

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or move equipment and materials weighing up to 100 pounds.

• Capability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, and work in confined or restricted-access areas.

• Ability to work safely around energized electrical equipment and in mission-critical customer environments.

• Eligibility to obtain and maintain Security Clearance and access to customer facilities.

• Ability to meet company vehicle requirements.
