Entry Level Data Backend Engineer – Trust & Safety

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design and develop backend services and data pipelines for the real-time identification and management of fake accounts and harmful content.

• Write, test, and deploy production-quality Python code throughout the Content Safety enforcement stack.

• Create and sustain internal tools for moderators and operations teams to evaluate and act upon flagged content and accounts.

• Maintain and enhance enforcement workflows that isolate content, deactivate accounts, and prevent harmful interactions.

• Work in collaboration with ML engineers to implement detection signals and model outputs in production.

• Engage in code reviews, participate in on-call rotations, and contribute to team processes.

• Investigate production issues and provide solutions across a complex codebase.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in Python.

• Solid foundation in software engineering principles: data structures, algorithms, system design, and writing clean, tested, maintainable code.

• Familiarity with SQL and fundamental data processing concepts.

• Ability to quickly adapt to an unfamiliar codebase and formulate insightful questions.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration and documentation.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
