Enterprise Migrations Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of enterprise content migrations from start to finish, encompassing scoping, customer interaction, execution, and delivery.

• Collaborate directly with customers to gain insights into content structures and establish realistic expectations.

• Develop and execute transformation scripts to parse, normalize, and import content from various formats including PDF, HTML, RST, Confluence exports, custom CMS dumps, and others.

• Create reusable tools and pipelines to enhance the speed of each migration.

• Define and document a systematic migration process and playbook.

• Collaborate with Solutions Engineers prior to sales to assess migration complexity and contribute to deal strategy.

• Offer product feedback based on practical field experience.

• Demonstrate a method for a plausible migration scenario during the technical exercise.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess an ownership mentality; capable of defining processes, identifying issues early, and proactively determining necessary actions.

• Have technical expertise in document formats and be comfortable parsing and transforming complex, structured, and semi-structured content at scale.

• Ability to decide when to create custom parsers versus utilizing pre-existing tools.

• Establish customer-facing credibility; able to clarify complexities, manage timelines, and convey challenging news clearly.

• Emphasize the creation of reusable tools instead of repetitive manual processes.

• Maintain a pragmatic focus on delivering clean content consistently.

• Proficient in Python for writing transformation scripts and automation.

• Familiarity with GitBook’s API and Git Sync for content ingestion and structuring.

• Knowledge of Markdown, RST, HTML, XML, PDF text extraction, and Confluence XML exports.

• Acquainted with shell scripting, Git, and basic data manipulation.

• Preferred but not mandatory: experience with content management systems, structured content formats like DITA or DocBook, or a background in a developer tools/documentation company.
